The Merchant of Venice

The Merchant of Venice | 9 & 10 May 2014

The 16th Annual Shakespeare in Gloucester Festival 2014.

Returning to Gloucester for the first time since 2010 is Newcastle’s acclaimed Stooged Theatre who will present this dramatic Shakespearean classic, never before seen at Gloucester. Stooged Theatre is a very capable and experienced ensemble and with Carl Young’s extraordinary director skills, theatre-goers are sure to enjoy the performance.

Friday evening’s performance includes a hearty supper featuring a ploughman’s platter served at your table. On Saturday night, an Elizabethan themed banquet precedes the performance, featuring a brand new menu in 2014. On both evenings, a fully licensed bar features some local and regional wines to further enhance the dining experience in Gloucester.

Best of all, there are some great prizes for the best outfits. So wear your finest Elizabethan costumes, as the competition is always hotly contested!

If you’re visiting the Elizabethan Faire in Gloucester just for the day on Saturday, then you’ll love Stooged Theatre’s matinee performance.
