The latest exhibition at the Gloucester Gallery is the body of works submitted by Gloucester High School students for the 2017 HSC Visual Art elective subject.
The 2017 HSC exhibition is comprised of the final body of work by three year 12 students plus several students from past HSC years. Sophie Steele (2010), Amber Hitchcock (2008) & Wendy Fraser (1993) have agreed to include their artworks for this year’s exhibition, all of whom were selected for Artexpress in their respective HSC years.
This year’s Visual Arts class is quite small compared to previous years and it was decided to invite these previous students to be involved in the exhibition to be able to fill the gallery. This is not to detract from the current year 12 student’s work as they have worked consistently to get their work to a high standard prior to marking in October.
HSC students select from a range of Expressive Forms when they initially set out to develop their Body of Work for their final practical examination. This can range from drawing, painting, photography to time based works. The students have a approximately 12 months to develop an in-depth range of artworks that display engagement with the idea and with the techniques associated with their chosen media.
